Logwood dye.

The logwood dyes are now finished, and I have also made two dyes with cocheneal (the pink yarn), which goes beautifully with the colours achieved from logwood.

The logwood dye stuff comes from the dried wooden chore of the tree Haematoxilum campechechianum, and it will dye blueish, purple or black depending on which mordant used. I used alum, which made the yarn dye blueish and lilac(ish).
As logwood is a strong colour agent it takes a lot of yarn to exhaust the dye pot (in addition dyeing with logwood is really messy, and it leaves stains anywhere...).
I have now spent all the dried logwood from my storage, and I do think that this will be my last dye with logwood.

Here are all the dyed skeins in the order from first to last dye.
21 skeins (each 50 grams) dyed with logwood and 6 dyed with cocheneal.
I already have some plans on what to do with the yarn...

Stains or not, they are a beautiful array of colours.

Thank you Hanne Bente, Anne, Mia and Dc :)

and that's really a lot of yarn you have there, I'm really very curious what you are going to create with it? Crochet? Knit?
