Sunday outing.

Today, in lovely and warm September weather, we went for a bike ride in the woods .
We were heading for Stordammen (the Great Pond), to see a small and very rare population of red water lily which grows there.

The red water lily can be seen on the water in the middle of the photo above.

Originally there were only white water lilies growing here. The red water lily was discovered in 1997.
From what I have read there is only one more population of red water lily in Norway.

We got to see three blooming water lilies, plus one bud just about to open.

They were absolutely beautiful, and the flowers were huge.
Even some of the leaves seemed to have a hint of red.

En fin dag ved vannet :)

A beautiful day by the water :)

Wonderfoll pinctures, the lake like an Mirror and the "Seerosen"(in German), I do feel the special silence there.
I did also like the Clematis, what a rich flowering. Did you ever tried to use them for dyeing?

I did not comment much the last two weeks - but I saw and enjoyed all your posts Hilde!
And this one is so special - I never saw that flower, it is so beautiful, it left my mouth open in awe! I am very glad you had your eyes and soul on them (and your camera too!).

Thank you, Anne, glad you liked the photos.
I have never tried the clematis for dyeing, don't know if they will work. Perhaps I'll make a small test dye.
